morning after

into the stillness
of this morning after snow
smoke from a chimney

snow after

the shovels
down from the attic
my winter bones

We got about a foot of it.

voices

autumn afternoon
children's voices wake me
from a daydream

This one is slightly out of season, and the next few posts will be as well. They were written a while ago, and they have recently been published in Notes from the Gean.

new site

I've just added a new site to the list of "other good sites" to the left. This site features haiku, senryu, and occasionally tanka related to and inspired by current news stories. For example, my "Afghanistan," recently posted here, appears there in a version more directly tied to the New York Times story that inspired it. Click on "Haiku News" to visit this site.

This is a memory of winters past. We may be in for our first snow of this season tonight. I've posted versions of this as a comment at a couple of blogs.
